Food Security and Livelihoods
This programme is about empowerment and development of small-scale farmers for increased agricultural productivity. It is about making marginal or degraded land very productive using sustainable agriculture model to feed members of the household all the year round.

It is about access to healthy and nutritious locally grown food. It is about supporting smallholder farmers’ access to niche market opportunities for surplus produce. It is about identifying, documenting and promoting different ways and means of living among rural communities.

Biodiversity and Environment
This programme recognizes the current loss of plants species and habitat destruction. This has principally been due to over-grazing and soil erosion. These losses and destructions decrease genetic diversity that provide goods and services for our lives. In order to address this, the programme aims to protect, preserve, manage plants species and restore habitats.

BE activties are botanical gardens, community seed banks, breeding and multiplication programmes, tree planting and footpath construction. Programme benfits include ethical and aesthestic rewards as well as economic and ecological benefits to surrounding communities.

Water and Sanitation
This programme acknowledges that safe drinking water, a clean environment and hygiene education can contribute to health and wellbeing in rural communities. It is based on this theory that WS provides safe drinking water (gravity water supply systems) and promotes healthy living environment (proper solid waste disposal) among rural communities where KMA operates.

Public Policy Advocacy
This programme realized a gap between ground activities and high level decision making. These ground works are usually unrecognized by decision makers and funders, hence they contribute much on national and global agendas. PPA main objectives are to create a space for grassroots communities to interact with high level decision makers to participate in public policy debates, dialogue and deliberations at the local, national, regional, and global levels. We aim to build the capacity of communities for effective participation in public policy development process and their implemntation and to document these wonderful works on the ground in the public domain (this website, for example).
